About Bill...
An Artist, a drummer, a family man, a bit of a "showman", and a dog guy!
Hobbies/Interests:
camping, canoeing, drumming, cycling, art and "sketching"
Heros/Influences:
I become awestruck by the Masters, I have a huge respect for art that has a strong discipline behind it.
Individually, I've been inspired by the work of Chuck Jones, Walt Disney, Rembrant, Alberto Vargas, Johannes Vermeer, Vincent Van Gogh, Tim Burton, Stan Lee, and thousands more!
Favorite Color:
Black isn't a color, but I'm stickin' with it
Bio:
I reflect back to the days of pre-adolescence when I would collect stacks of Comic Strips and read about how to be the next Jim Davis, while marveling at the work of Chuck Jones and thinking of how impossible animation must really be (pre-Flash, back when each still was hand painted!). I've always known that art was where I was supposed to be.
Knowing that a career in art was a definite, I broke free of the standard High School academics and attended the area Vocational School where I studied Commercial Art. Learning the basics of illustration, typography, layout/design, and prepress using traditional techniques such as keylining, hand masking, paste-ups and more.
After completing the Commercial Course and working a few odd jobs hand painting a catering truck, hand lettering a few signs, and doing a few creative projects for a couple businesses, I headed to Pittsburgh to attend The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. At the Art Institute I earned my Graphic Design degree while discovering the tool that would soon dominate my art supply box...."Hi Macintosh and all things Apple!".
Since graduating AiP I've found a great amount of pleasure in securing freelance projects such as, t-shirt designs, illustrations, logos and identity, print advertising, cd packaging, and designs for the web. I also enjoyed a full-time postion with an advertising directory publisher that lasted a good seven and a half years. I've even returned to AiP to take some online courses and broaden my skills in web design.
From full identity to web, to spot illustrations, I thrive on providing my clients with the creative solutions they need.
Currently I am able to accept work on a freelance, contract or full-time basis.
